With Covid restrictions winding down, North Central Washington Audubon Society is again offering field trips. And the timing is just right to enjoy our neotropical migrants’ arrival and breeding season in our area.
Our first trip this season, “Twisp Area Hotspots” took place on May 29th. 10 of us headed out early, visiting riparian, dry forest, wetlands, and other varied habitats. We finished the day having found 68 species! Highlights included Great Horned and Western Screech Owl (the Screech owl vocalizing at 11 am no less), Sora, Virginia Rail, 2 Golden Eagles, and more (full trip list attached). All in all, a great day in the field.
