With gratitude

From Bruce McCammon and the entire North Central Washington Audubon Society board

The North Central Washington Audubon Society board members agree that preparing and distributing each issue of the Wild Phlox newsletter is one of the most valuable things we do. Our sincere thanks go to all who contribute content, our current and past editors, and the volunteers who gather to fold, tape, label, and mail each issue.

Receiving a random “Thank You” note that references a Phlox article is always a treat. When such a note explains how birds have touched lives, we celebrate. Such a note recently arrived and, with the author’s permission, is reproduced below. The photos that were attached to the email note are also used with permission.

The author, Mary Watson (Manson, WA) describes how her ten-year-old granddaughter, Tiegen, delighted in watching an Anna’s hummingbird nest and raise its young. We hope that the drawing Tiegen produced will add to her lifelong appreciation of birds and nature.

Surely, this nest was a gift to the Watson family. Mary’s note, photos, and Tiegen’s drawing are a gift to us all.
